in his own words...

Yes, it's true (at least if you believe The Economist). Real live clipboard-carrying scientists, wearing white lab coats and safety goggles, have determined that once the average adult reaches the age of 46, his/her happiness increases. (Too bad for all of you under the age of 46.) A pleasant way to think about middle age, isn't it? You're not growing older, you're growing happier. So -- How about we share a bit of the happiness that comes with turning 47, 48, 49, . . . ? We are tolerant and forgiving and respectful of others (despite their faults, which are always substantially greater than ours :). We are curious about the world. We seek new challenges (mental and physical) and experiences. If we do share some of the above, here's how I imagine our partnership would work: You take me to a talk about some obscure painter, I take you to a talk by some obscure critic. You take me to the ballet, I take you to a baseball game (not to gender stereotype, it's just an example). You teach me something about your favorite author and I teach you something about mine. You insipire me to travel with you to Asia (or wherever is your next vacation spot), I inspire you to travel with me to some obscure part of Italy (though I'm not sure anyone NEEDS to be inspired to travel to Italy, which is almost always my next vacation spot). We take in obscure movies and less obscure plays. You kick my butt at tennis, I kick yours on the bike trail. Put more simply: you share with me what excites/interests/brings joy to you and I share the same with you (with luck, there'll be some overlap, but the differences will make it all the more interesting) A couple final details. Though none of my pics show me in a tie, rest assured: I do own suits and ties (plus a tux) and am more than happy to w
