in his own words...

Hollywood made a movie of the political magazine I traveled across the country to work for fifteen years ago. While “Shattered Glass” might be little remembered, it captured some of the reasons I came to Washington, such as interviewing and writing about the nation’s most powerful figures. Now I would like to find a gal whom Hollywood would cast as my co-star in a romantic comedy, or something like that. I am probably more like Hugh Grant than Cary Grant. I am enrolled in a ballroom dancing class again, order steak frites and a merlot at French restaurants, and enjoy going to the Kennedy Center. Yet I also like making dinner, especially on the grill; reading the papers, shopping for old books and antiques; running past and around the monuments on the National Mall; and going to see all types of professional and collegiate sporting events. Whatever the venue, I plan ahead, take care of the details, and put your comfort ahead of mine. As a graduate of a Jesuit university, I strive to live up to the motto “live for others.” For years, I volunteered at my neighborhood nursing home, where I would help give out Communion and pray, talk, and laugh with the residents. Now I make pancakes at my church for breakfast on Sundays. (I also host elaborate birthday parties for my two young daughters). What is my basic nature? Here's a story. When I was in third grade, an anti-drugs educator came in to class one day. "How many of you," she asked, "plan to smoke when you grow up?" For a moment, our class of 30 was silent. Then my two friends and I stood up. "Yeah," we said, "we plan to smoke." Actually, I don’t smoke, but I stand up for unpopular causes and find humor in any situation. Who are you? You are a religious Christian or at least open to the idea of becoming one, can hold a conversation, and prize character, honesty, and integrity. If interested, send me an email. Auditions begin soon, and the director seems to want us to start practicing our lines.
