His 9 interests
in his own words...
A sense of humor is key. My closest friends are the ones crack me up; I try to return the favor. Funny people make the world less drab, less mundane. These are some of the things that make me laugh: Any Christopher Guest “mocumentary” (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show); the quirky character driven humor of Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tennenbaums); The Big Lebowski; anything Marx Brothers; The Colbert Report; The Daily Show. Civility matters as well. I tend to run screaming from people that are easily set off into a frothing rage, and am surprised that a lot of people don’t. Having passion is great thing. Having a mean streak--not so much. I may be in a quandary as to which fork to use or what I’m supposed to do with that little bowl of warm water with the lemon floating in it, but would nevertheless describe myself as well mannered because I strive to treat everyone with respect. An active lifestyle is important to me. I am an avid swimmer. Give me a big bottle of water, a few gel packs, an outdoor 50-meter pool, and I am completely content to spend an afternoon counting laps. Bonus points if you swim, want to learn to swim from a patient, good natured teacher, or like to laze around pools and beaches with a good book. On the subject of books, I love a good read. F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Irving, T.C. Boyle, Henry Miller, Douglas Coupland, Charles Bukowski, and Hunter S. Thompson are among my favorite authors. It could be argued that I read too much. My taste in music is eclectic, and I enjoy live music, especially at a smaller venue. Memorable concerts include The Kinks, The Who, The Dead, The Jerry Garcia Band, Burning Spear, Steel Pulse, Social Distortion, Steely Dan, Run DMC, Arrested Development, Wyclef Jean, They Might Be Giants, The Violent Femmes, Santana, BB King, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, The Pogues, and Toots and the Maytals. I think everyone should see a live show at least once a month. I love a good conversation. People that are artic
