Life is short; love is long
He is a tough-minded, independent thinker who likes to explore ideas or problems thoroughly. Yet he has a wild side and is not interested in maintaining routine social engagements either.
He gravitates to men and women who are intellectually exciting and like to discuss topics broadly and thoroughly.
He tends to like someone who is spontaneous, even mischievous, as well as a mate who can appreciate his rugged individualism and support of his drive to succeed.
A few excerpts from his personality test:
- Debating is a good way to match my wits with others
- I am able to solve problems without letting emotion get in the way
- My friends would say I am very curious
His 9 interests
in his own words...
Life has been very good to me. I am blessed with four wonderful grown children and two adoring grandchildren who are a source of that rare gift: unconditional love. I have my health and remain active as a downhill skier (but no double blacks anymore), scuba diver, and occasional trips to the gym for workouts. I enjoy reading, mostly non-fiction, and have been a patron of the Washington Opera for 25+ years. I am also a sports fan, having played varsity football and rugby in college as well as ice hockey and track in high school. The Nats, Caps, Redskins, and local college lacrosse games are all events I enjoy either watching on TV or occasionally in person. And, yes, that is a picture of me bungee jumping off of a 600' bridge over the Zambesi River in Africa when I was 64. I am a gourmet cook and especially like to cook for others: Indian, Asian, Cajun. I especially enjoy seafood and going out to a the wonderful range of restaurants we have here in Washington, the more exotic the better. The late Surgeon General Dr. Bernadine Healy once said at a college graduation: "As a physician who has been deeply privileged to share the most profound moments of people's lives, including their final moments, let me tell you a secret. People facing death don't think about what degrees they have earned, what positions they have held, or how much wealth they have accumulated. At the end, what really matters is who you loved and who loved you. . That circle of love is everything, and is a great measure of a past life. It is the gift of greatest worth." After a life well lived and many blessings, including my health, a satisfying career, and journeys to many exotic places, my most ardent wish is to live out the final decades of my life, as Dr. Healy has observed, surrounded by those who love me and I them. I am in search of a loving relationship where caring, understanding, intimacy, and laughter are all a part of the mix.
