in her own words...

No lie, I'm pretty awesome. I'm joking, of course, but I am quite happy with who I am. This is not to say I am never self-critical, but I needn't go there now. Suffice it to say that I'm fairly comfortable with myself as a person, but I hope I never stop seeking to be a better person. I'm quite introspective and like to pay attention to how I experience the world. I work in end-of-life care, which I love. It is beautiful and meaningful, but it also sometimes requires a dry, somewhat dark sense of humor. This ought not be an earth-shattering revelation, but my work does color much of my outlook on life. I'm also studying philosophy/bioethics. I stay busy between work and school and some ethics committees. I look forward someday to working more officially as a bioethicist, but it is a good thing that I enjoy being a student, since if I get my Ph.d. as planned, I will likely be in school for some time to come. I have definite goals, but the process is as meaningful as the outcome. In my spare time, which I am not always good at finding, I love to read, to travel, and watch movies. It is easy for me to become engrossed in anything with which I connect, so I try to be selective about what I begin. I love people on an individual level, but I don't much like crowds. This is not to say that I don't like to be around people; I get my energy in time alone or with someone I trust, but I often find social situations very enjoyable. My family is very, very important to me. We certainly have our dysfunctions, but we are a weird group of people and generally embrace that and are close with each other. We spend a lot of time laughing together. My two siblings (1 brother, 1 sister) never fail to make me laugh, which is important to me (this, I'm sure, will come as a great shock to you-- who likes to laugh?). I need someone who can appreciate my geeky thirst for knowledge and who consistently treats others with respect. Other than that, I'm pretty flexible.
