So, who am I? According to a recent survey, apparently I am a constant contrast, and someone who scoffs at wading in the shallow end. The contrast thing may be a work hard, play hard ethic, but may also refer to choices made along the way: There are a bunch of Type A characteristics - Ivy League MBA, career in finance, lived in NYC for 10 years. But you could also focus on the things that don't fit: drive a Prius, UC Santa Cruz undergrad, mellow activities (think gardening, yoga), and an attempt to incorporate art and meaning into everyday life (music, literature, lectures, glass, architecture, theater). My personality may reflect both sides of the coin as well: I can be serious, and silly; I can be focused, and can let my hair down. I am confident yet humble, readily admit mistakes and laugh at myself; I am at times strong, and at others, a softie. As for the deep end of the pool, that also may be true. I suppose I do approach each day with the attitude - as the saying goes - that life is not a dress rehearsal. As a former competitive athlete in high school, college, and post-college, I understand and appreciate the focus and attention to detail needed to be successful under pressure and to fully appreciate an opportunity. Boredom rarely makes the radar screen, and intellectual curiosity frequently keeps me in and out of trouble. I find there is always more to learn, to explore, to discover, to dive deeper. I enjoy all things food - high on my list is exploring and experiencing the Bay Area's creative gastronomic world of restaurants, farmers markets, food writers, organic farms, chefs, cooking, dinner parties. I'm just as happy going to hear an indie band at The Fillmore as I am hiking and biking in Marin, exploring Big Sur, going to the symphony and opera, playing basketball in the Marina, enjoying wine and food in Napa, camping in Yosemite, skiing in Tahoe. In general, I try to take advantage of how special the Bay Area really is. I
