in her own words...
There is a line in Hannah and her Sisters that I know by rote- "I should stop ruining my life... searching for answers...and just enjoy it while it lasts. "And after, who knows? Maybe there is something. I know "maybe" is a slim reed to hang your life on...but that's the best we have. And then I started to sit back...... and I actually began to enjoy myself." And that's my plan. To enjoy myself. I would like to meet someone who genuinely wants to have fun. Hang out. I'm in no rush. Let's go to a show and not get too depressed by the whippersnappers. Indie? Sure. Metal? Great. 80's New Wave? Let me make sure I just get the right shade of electric blue eyeshadow. Or, we could hike Mount Tam and run from the mountain lions. Drink some Pinot and watch a Pekinpah film. Go to a Giants game and monitor Brian Wilson's beard growth. Or, you know. We could just get dressed up and go out to dinner. I have always fancied myself a world weary curmudgeon, but alas...my friends use words like "ebullient, friendly, empathetic." NO! I want to be cool! Wait, no. I really don't. I left the days of "I loved that band before everyone else did" long ago. I actually want to nerd out on all the music, novels and movies I love with someone who has the self confidence to be a dork about it too. I like snark and deranged humor, but I also require kindness and self confidence. I am not attracted to narcissism. Is there such a thing as a person who likes sarcasm and dark humor, but is also a fundamentally happy person? I think that's me. And I would hope it's you, too.
